چکیده

In regions where rivers are not perennial or have low flow conditions during most part of the year(like banks of the Yellow River), the seepage wells are placed in the riverbed to obtain uninterrupted supply of naturally filtered groundwater through highly permeable saturated riverbed aquifers. Due to the complexities of flow, no exact analytical solution exists to provide steady state discharge drawdown relationship for seepage well. To overcome this difficulty, in this study a numerical model was developed for seepage well by adapting the equivalent hydraulic conductivity and the coupled seepage-pipe flow model. The numerical model is proposed to be applied for groundwater exploitation in Zaolinping Village which locates at Shenmu County, China. By calculation, the water yield of study area is 47600 m/d. The results show that the proposed methodology based on the application of the coupled seepage-pipe flow model has been found to be efficient in constructing riverbed aquifer model with seepage well, which has a positive theoretical significance for guiding the design and construction of seepage well. Keywords—seepage well, equivalent hydraulic conductivity, the coupled seepage-pipe flow model, groundwater yield

Numerical Simulation of the Seepage Field and the Analysis of its Sensibility Based on Finite Element Method

The distribution characteristics and migration mechanism of seepage field of reservoir groundwater can determine the geographical characteristics of reservoir area to a large extent. The permeability of reservoir area is especially important since it is an important indicator of karst development characteristics and its hydrogeological condition in karst area, and it’s difficult to conduct quan...

Use of Numerical Simulation to Measure the Effect of Relief Wells for Decreasing Uplift in a Homogeneous Earth Dam

Relief wells are used extensively to relieve excess hydrostatic pressure in pervious foundation strata overlain by impervious top strata, conditions which often exist landward of levees and downstream of dams and hydraulic structures. Placing well outlets in below-surface trenches or collector pipes helps dry up seepage areas downstream of levees and dams. Relief wells are often used in combina...

Numerical Simulation and Estimation of the Transvers Macrodispersivity Coefficient of Aqueous Phase (Miscible) Contaminants of Salt Water in a Heterogeneous and Homogeneous Porous Media

Deterioration of groundwater resources in coastal regions due to the progression of saline water in aquifers in these regions is currently one of the important issues in providing water needs in these areas. In coastal regions, saline water enters the aquifer from below in shape of wedge. Due to the difference in the density between fresh and salty water, an interface zone forms between two flu...

Numerical Simulation of Seepage Flow through Dam Foundation Using Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics Method (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this paper, a mesh-free approach called smooth particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is proposed to analyze the seepage problem in porous media. In this method, computational domain is discredited by some nodes, and there is no need for background mesh; therefore, it is a truly meshless method. The method was applied to analyze seepage flow through a concrete dam foundation. Using the SPH method, the...

A mathematical model for seepage of deeply buried groundwater under higher pressure and temperature

Deeply buried groundwater, such as brine, is an important industrial raw material with high economic value. Because brine frequently exists under higher temperature and pressure, the quantitative prediction of its seepage field is very difficult. Here we study the migration of deeply buried groundwater by using a numerical simulation based on laboratory test results. In particular, we express t...
